Can you repair a broken laptop power socket?

Definitely!

Usually, the old power socket has come loose from the board, and it needs to be re-attached and re-soldered onto the laptop systemboard.

This can be done by dismantling the laptop to gain access to the plug, and then reattaching the socket to the board with professional strength epoxy. Then, using fine, electronics-grade soldering equipment, we reconnect the socket power leads to the board. The end result is typically stronger than it was when you purchased the laptop.

On rare occasions, if the socket is badly damaged, we may have to order a new plug to use in place of the old one. This can take 3 days to 2 weeks, depending on where the part is coming from (domestic vs. overseas).
