Viruses can wreck havoc on any computer. Even if all you do it check email occasionally, viruses travel through any email message (or any always-on Internet connection for that matter).
Virus infections can come in all shapes and sizes, and can go by different names… such as, malware, rootkits, trojans, spyware, keyloggers, ransomware, bots, worms, hijackers, etc.
None of them, regardless of the name, have your best interests at heart. They can steal your usernames, passwords, credit card information, social security numbers, bank account information, etc. Some of them can even delete all of your files. Don’t take any chances.
How do you keep from becoming infected?
Starting with a good antivirus application is essential. However, no antivirus is 100% effective against all viruses, so an occasional infection may still occur. With the right antivirus application, it should not happen often.
But, if you have already been infected, installing an antivirus application may not be enough. Once your computer has been compromised, you may not even be able to install an antivirus application.
The first step to recovering your computer (and your sanity) is removing the virus. Since one virus infection can open the “door” on you computer to let other viruses in, there may be multiple infections.
After that, repairing or restoring any damaged files is critical.
If you have already been infected, give us a call. We can remove any and all infections, repair the corrupted operating system files and then get you set up with a good antivirus application. The number is (970) 292-7500.
